About Us

Swift Performance Horses was founded in 1998, when Brandie and Jacob were married.  Before that, Brandie trained and rode under her maiden name.  It wasn't long after they were married that they found their niche in APHA halter and all around horses.

Brandie came from a background of successfully riding everything from reining horses to saddleseat to team penning to horsemanship, a bit of cutting and even over fence work before deciding that it got a person a bit too far off the ground.  She showed her in her first halter futurity at 14.  She was Reserve Champion with a cutting bred filly she fit herself.

Jake grew up in Northeastern Oregon and working for a local ranch, got a taste of horses when it was time to move cattle.  While halter and performance horses were all new to him, he jumped in and quickly became successful at conditioning and as the amateur handler of the horses they raised.

Swift Performance Horses has become a family affair.  With three little kids, the horses are raised around it all- They have no choice but to get used to the commotion of day to day life! They are raised with kids running in the barn, Tonka truck races down the aisle, strollers, and stalls being cleaned by someone wearing a kid in the back pack.  Most of them will stand for Carson (now 8) to hold them for photo shoots during their weanling year.  Several over the years were even forced to deal with the barn literally being built around them.

Brandie and Jake believe the horses they raise should be able to have a career outside of halter too.  To do so their horses must have a good mind and good legs.  They are raised as horses first, champions second and it shows in their temperments and personalities.  If you see them at a show, head over and introduce yourself!  They are usually hard to miss!
